How to make the OSRS or RuneLite interface bigger or clearer
Start by enlarging the game client or choosing fixed mode if the game area is too small. If icons and text still look tiny, adjust RuneLite's UI scaling one step and reassess. If the image looks blurry, compare stretch and GPU scaling, then undo any layer that softens text.
A wider client can add space without making interface text larger.

Adjust the relevant scale layer, then check text and targets again.
Schematic only; not a screenshot or a claim about exact scaling behavior. Change one display or client setting at a time.

Set the monitor and client window you will actually use before touching RuneLite's interface scale. Inventory, chat, minimap, and menu targets should read clearly together. Change one layer at a time. If the monitor is not at native resolution, fix that first. If text stays unreadable after RuneLite's own scale is set, reset to baseline and walk the sequence again.
OS scale, client size, and plugin text are three separate knobs. Treating them that way makes a bad result easier to undo.

What it solves
Limit
24-inch 1080p
One main client fills most of the screen.
Large native UI targets with little scaling work.
Limited room for two clients or reference windows.
27-inch 1440p
You want one client plus guides, chat, or a second window.
More workspace without the density of 4K.
The useful size still depends on viewing distance.
4K or ultrawide
You need several windows or a large workspace.
Plenty of layout room after scaling is controlled.
Stacked OS and client scale can create tiny or blurry elements.
Controlled setup
Tune one display variable, then look again.
Record the operating-system display scale and restore RuneLite interface-related plugins to a known baseline.
Size the RuneLite window for the activity: one client, split desktop, or multiple clients.
Set RuneLite UI scaling so inventory slots, chat text, minimap, and context menus are readable at the same viewing distance.
Adjust plugin overlays one at a time. Keep a screenshot after each useful change so you can reverse a bad combination.
Test bank, Grand Exchange, PvM panels, world map, and a long chat line before saving the layout.
Bank screens, Grand Exchange panels, and long chat lines expose scaling problems faster than standing in town.
01 / One client
One client
Use enough window size that inventory and chat stay readable without magnifying every plugin.
02 / Two clients
Two clients
More pixels help, but two tiny clients are not automatically better than one readable client and a tab switch.
03 / High DPI
High DPI
Change one scaling layer at a time. OS scale and RuneLite scale can compound.
04 / Linux
Linux
Launcher and desktop scaling behavior can differ from Windows. Recheck after the current Linux beta updates.
What this setup does not fix
Scaling cannot solve every layout problem.
No single monitor size fits every desk, eyesight, and client count. This workflow finds a readable client size for your setup. It does not pick a universal pixel density.
Sources and limits
Change one scale layer at a time.
OS scale, client size, RuneLite interface scale, and plugin text are separate levers.
This guide follows RuneLite and Jagex display documentation. It does not cover monitor color calibration or input latency.
Set the client size and mode first. If the game area is right but panels and icons are still too small, raise RuneLite UI scaling one step, then check chat, inventory, minimap, and plugin panels before changing another setting.
How do I make the RuneLite UI bigger?
Enlarge the client or switch to fixed mode when the whole game area feels too small. If only the interface elements are tiny, adjust RuneLite UI scaling instead; change one layer at a time so you can undo blur or crowded panels.
How do I change the OSRS client size?
Resize the client window or choose fixed mode to use more of the monitor. Stretch mode is a separate choice: try it only if the aspect ratio is the problem, and stop if text or icons look distorted.
Does ultrawide help OSRS?
It helps when extra desktop width holds guides, chat, or a second client. It does not make a tiny primary client easier to use by itself.
