OSRS tablet split screen: keep the game readable beside the wiki.
Split screen helps when a second panel answers a question without making the OSRS client too narrow to tap. Set width first, then choose portrait, landscape, or a temporary full-screen swap.

PvM ruleFull screen when reach matters
Use split screen when the second app genuinely helps and the OS keeps the game readable. It suits lookup, chat, and lower-interaction play. For touch-heavy PvM, give OSRS full width and keep the guide on another device if half-width makes targets hard to hit. If your tablet or app combo cannot preserve the layout, or the game half becomes too narrow, drop split screen for that activity.
Start with a wiki page beside OSRS and give the game most of the width. Then try the app you actually plan to use, such as a video or chat window. Check whether typing, playing the video, or returning from another app pauses or resizes the game. A large display alone does not settle those questions.
OSRS tablet split-screen platform checks
Platform
What the current platform docs support
OSRS setup rule
Android
Android desktop windowing and split-screen availability vary by device; Pixel Tablet documents a resizable divider and saved app pairs.
Test the exact tablet in both orientations. Keep the game panel wider when touch reach matters.
iPadOS 26
Windowed Apps can be resized, moved, placed side by side, or used in Slide Over on supported iPads.
Use the model-specific Apple support list. Older iPads may expose different multitasking behavior.
Fire OS
Amazon documents Fire compatibility and device generations separately; do not assume stock Android windowing or a normal Google Play path.
Verify the exact Fire model, store path, and region first. Read the Fire tablet guide.
Windows 2-in-1
Windows tablet mode changes when a keyboard is detached or attached; this is a desktop window/client path, not OSRS Mobile split screen.
Every extra panel takes width away from inventory, prayer, movement, or the map.
OSRS tablet split-screen layouts
Layout
Good for
Tradeoff
Landscape, game wider
OSRS beside a narrow wiki or guide.
Reference text may need scrolling or zoom.
Portrait, stacked panels
Reading a guide while checking the game.
Game height and touch density can feel compressed.
Popup or temporary panel
Quick lookup without a permanent split.
Behavior varies by OS and app; it can cover the game.
Full-screen swap
PvM, banking, or any moment that needs reach.
You lose the constant reference view.
Setup loop
Start full screen, then give width away slowly.
Open OSRS full screen and set a readable zoom and interface scale.
Enable the tablet's supported split or multitasking mode.
Place the wiki, chat, or guide in the smaller panel.
Check inventory, prayer, chat, and movement touch targets again.
Save full screen for moments where the smaller client adds reach risk.
If you keep zooming or missing taps, put the wiki on your phone and restore OSRS to full width. Try that with the devices you own before buying a larger tablet just for multitasking.
A keyboard or mouse can change input, but it does not turn the official mobile client into RuneLite. Compare the tablet input options.
Touch checks
Reset the layout before trusting it in PvM.
A split, rotation, or client update can make a tap feel offset or leave the right side clipped on some device combinations. Treat that as a troubleshooting signal, not a universal OSRS bug or a guaranteed fix.
Update OSRS and the tablet software.
Exit and re-enter split screen, then swap the app positions.
Try the other orientation and stretch the game panel or return to full screen.
Check display, zoom, and window settings before retesting touch targets.
Test the intended activity at low stakes before using the layout for touch-dense PvM.
How I checked this page
When to return to full screen
The default is a readable split for lookup and chat. Full width wins for active touch work. Exact behavior depends on model and OS.
This page summarizes Android and iPadOS multitasking documentation plus OSRS mobile guidance. Exact split behavior varies by model and OS version.
Yes, if the tablet's supported multitasking mode leaves both panels usable. The exact split controls and app behavior depend on the operating system and device.
Is split screen good for PvM?
It can be a poor fit when a fight needs quick touch access. Start full screen and treat split screen as optional reference mode.
Does split screen require RuneLite?
No. The guide is about the official mobile client and the tablet operating system's multitasking behavior.
