MMO setup workflow

MMO Monitor & UI Scaling Simulator

See how your game windows and HUD could fit on different screens. Compare layouts, adjust the usable area, and save a setup checklist.

What are you planning?

Example screen shown. Enter your screen details below to use your own.

Choose a matching screen shape if your exact model is not listed.

1. Simulator mode
2. Pick your monitor
Enter my screen and minimum window size

Enter the native resolution and scaling from your display settings. Defaults are examples; your screen is not detected automatically.

Optional: enter a window size you have tried in the real client, including borders. Leave either minimum at 0 for no limit. Logical pixels = native pixels ÷ desktop scaling.

Current screen: 2560×1400 logical pixels (no minimum entered). Selected screen: 3440×1400 logical pixels (no minimum entered). Change in the smallest game region: 880 pixels wide, 0 pixels high. Workspace rectangles include window borders and title bars; this does not measure readable game content.

Enter your minimum window dimensions to check this layout.

The same arrangement and reserved bottom height are used on both screens. Selected-screen scaling is set beside the preview; current scaling is entered in the screen form. Diagonal affects panel-distance estimates, not available pixels.

What this preview does and does not model
  • UI scale is illustrative (0.75×); it is not an exact RuneLite plugin setting.
  • Geometry uses 3440×1440 native pixels with 40px reserved for the taskbar.
  • panel geometry distance is a straight-line screen-coordinate estimate on a curved-panel approximation, not mouse travel, eye movement, or an ergonomic result.
  • Window borders, client chrome, and minimum usable client sizes are not modeled.
  • GPU UI Scaling choice is included in the checklist; this schematic illustrates texture treatment only; it is not an actual GPU or RuneLite shader.
  • LCD has no OLED pixel-wear mechanism; image retention is not impossible in every condition.
Apply this layout on Windows

Use the Microsoft FancyZones instructions alongside this plan. On other systems, use your window manager and the copied coordinates.

On Windows: Settings > System > Display. Select the intended monitor, set its native resolution and 100% scale.
In PowerToys FancyZones, open the layout editor on that monitor. Create a custom Canvas layout and use the coordinates below as a placement reference. Native coordinates divided by 1.00 give approximate logical coordinates; confirm the editor’s units. Keep 40px native height clear at the bottom.
Hold Shift while dragging a window into a zone. Check borders, taskbar position and client text; adjust zones in the editor. This tool does not install or overwrite any desktop configuration.

1. In RuneLite enable Stretched Mode and adjust Resizable scaling in your actual client; the preview percentage is illustrative.
2. Use stretched window placement. In RuneLite GPU, choose UI Scaling mode: xBR; 117HD has its own settings.
3. Check the inventory inside the RuneLite window after resizing.

Window plan (native pixel coordinates):
RuneLite fullscreen workspace: x=0, y=0, 3440×1400 native pixels; 3440×1400 logical pixels

100% desktop scaling; 40px reserved height. Window borders and client minimum sizes are not modeled.

Set up the real client

This preview helps you plan a layout. Use the RuneLite UI scaling guide for client settings, the multi-client layout guide for workspace choices, and the WoW ultrawide HUD guide for centered frames.

For hardware decisions, compare the Alienware and ASUS 34-inch monitors or 32-inch 4K and LG ultrawide layouts.

Quick answer

What fits on ultrawide and 4K?

At 100% desktop scaling, these are the native rectangles calculated from the simulator. They are layout arithmetic with no borders or gutters, so client chrome, taskbars, and minimum window sizes can reduce the usable fit.

4K quick answer: four 1920×1080 quadrants exist only when the full 3840×2160 canvas is available. With 40 px reserved, the theoretical rows are 1920×1060 before window chrome and gutters.

Data and methodology

Pixel ratio is calculated as (W × H) / (2560 × 1440). Usable height is H − reserved, and logical dimensions are native dimensions divided by desktopScale / 100.

Monitor facts were checked against LG’s official US product page and LG Canada’s dimension specifications, Dell’s AW3423DWF page, and ASUS’s global technical specifications. RuneLite terminology follows the Stretched Mode and GPU wiki pages.

The UI scale is a schematic preview, not a real plugin setting. Panel distance uses a flat rectangular approximation and the listed diagonal; curved-panel dimensions can differ. It is not mouse or eye travel. The simulator does not predict FPS or field of view.

Common setup questions

Monitor layout FAQ

Does this simulator predict FPS or the exact game field of view?

No. The pixel comparison is resolution arithmetic against 2560×1440. Performance and field of view depend on your hardware, game, settings and client support. The scenes are illustrative layouts, not screenshots or benchmarks.

Can a 4K screen fit four 1920×1080 windows?

A 3840×2160 pixel area divides into four 1920×1080 rectangles when no space is reserved. Taskbars reduce native work area, window borders reduce client area, and desktop scaling changes logical dimensions. Use the reserved-height and desktop-scaling controls to see the difference.

Does the UI size slider match RuneLite Resizable scaling?

No. The slider changes the illustrative inventory size in this preview. Configure RuneLite Stretched Mode and Resizable scaling in your actual client, then check the result at your chosen window size.

Is a half-screen ultrawide window a full 16:9 video window?

No. Half of 3440×1440 is 1720×1440 before reserved space. A 16:9 video will have unused space or need cropping inside that taller window.

What does the distance estimate measure?

It estimates the straight-line distance on the physical screen from the center of the example game window to the center of the inventory. It is not mouse travel, eye movement or an ergonomic recommendation.
