Custom adjustability only pays off if you accept the relearning cost.
One is shaped to your hand, the other to a generic grid
The Cyborg II arrives 3D printed and adjustable with an
included Allen key, so tower height, spacing, and angle can be
tuned to your actual fingers. GamesRadar's review specifically
credited the "Hall Sensor thumbstick" and "much more refined"
top towers as improvements over the original Cyborg. The
Tartarus Pro doesn't adjust to your hand at all beyond a
2-position wrist rest; it's the same fixed grid for every
buyer.
A true thumbstick changes what movement feels like
Azeron's Hall Effect thumbstick supports genuine 360-degree
analog movement or WASD emulation depending on the game, which
is a meaningfully different input than Razer's 8-way
analog-optical thumbpad. The Tartarus Pro's dual-step
actuation still gives per-key analog behavior, but it's
discrete directions, not a free-moving stick.
The learning curve is not marketing language, it's a documented cost
Azeron's own onboarding material estimates roughly 10 to 20
hours before the Cyborg II's layout feels natural, and
GamesRadar's review, written by someone clearly enthusiastic
about the device, still listed "learning curve" as a con and
noted it "may not be the most intuitive for sidescrolling or
fighting games." A Tartarus Pro buyer coming straight from
WASD adapts to a fixed keypad grid considerably faster,
which matters for anyone rebuilding an
OSRS keybind layout under a deadline
rather than over a few weeks.
Build quality and price track the same tradeoff
GamesRadar's review noted the Cyborg II's "build quality can
still feel fragile" despite the design refinements, on a
product priced well above the Tartarus Pro's roughly $130
tier. The Tartarus Pro is a mass-produced Razer product at
scale, reflected in its far larger Amazon review count and
lower price.
