SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless vs. HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

Dual hot-swap batteries and simultaneous Bluetooth vs. a 300-hour rated charge. We compared published specifications and reviews; we did not test either headset.

The short answer

We recommend the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless if you want to swap in a charged spare battery or mix 2.4GHz PC and Bluetooth audio. Choose the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless if you prefer one long charge: HyperX rates it for up to 300 hours per charge. Actual runtime can be shorter.

Dual hot-swap batteries or one long charge

Dual batteries and simultaneous Bluetooth

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

Best for: Players who want simultaneous PC game and Bluetooth phone audio, physical Game/Chat Mix dialing, and a spare battery charging while they play.

Tradeoff: SteelSeries rates each battery for up to 22 hours. ANC and Bluetooth can reduce runtime, and the base station takes desk space.

When the active battery is low, swap it with the charged spare between pulls.

A 300-hour rated charge

HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

Best for: Players who want a long single-charge rating and do not need Bluetooth or a base station.

Tradeoff: It has 2.4GHz PC/PlayStation wireless and no Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, or physical ChatMix dial. USB-C is for charging; the headset cannot play through a USB cable alone.

Its deep oval cups have no internal ANC microphone module, but ear-cup fit and clearance vary by wearer.

What you give up either way

What you give up with the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

The Nova Pro's stock leatherette earpads are shallower than the HyperX pads. If you have outward-angled ears, the inner ANC microphone module can lightly brush your antihelix. Thicker aftermarket cooling-gel or replacement pads may add room, but fit and pad compatibility vary and they are not a guaranteed fix. Each battery is rated for up to 22 hours; ANC and Bluetooth can reduce runtime, so exchange the active pack when needed.

What you give up with the Cloud Alpha Wireless

You get 2.4GHz PC/PlayStation wireless and nothing else: no Bluetooth for phone calls or mobile Discord away from your desk, and no physical ChatMix dial. Balance game and voice through the platform mixer. HyperX rates it for up to 300 hours on one charge. That is a published maximum, and actual runtime can be shorter.

The Cloud Alpha cups have deep oval shapes and no internal ANC microphone module. That avoids this particular contact point, but fit varies, and HyperX does not publish inner-cup clearance measurements. The 322g weight is 16g below the Nova Pro's published 338g; weight alone does not establish fit.

Where each one wins

WoW: Forever & FFXIV progression raiding

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

If you are a raid leader or healer balancing loud boss spell effects against quieter teammates in real time, the physical desk Game/Chat Mix dial and battery swap between pulls are the deciding features. See the WoW hub and FFXIV hub.

Albion Online and multi-hour sessions

HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

If you do not need a desk base station or software suite and want a 322g headset with a long single-charge rating, the Cloud Alpha fits the simpler setup. The Albion setup hub covers the surrounding PC voice setup.

What neither one fixes

Neither headset guarantees that its ear cups will fit every wearer: pad depth and ear shape vary. Both are closed-back wireless headsets, while the Nova Pro adds ANC, Bluetooth, and a base station and the Cloud Alpha has a longer rated single charge.

Questions about SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless vs HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

How long does one Arctis Nova Pro Wireless battery last?

SteelSeries rates each Nova Pro Wireless battery for up to 22 hours. The base station charges the spare while the other battery is in the headset. ANC, Bluetooth, volume, and other settings can change actual runtime, so treat 22 hours as the published maximum for a pack.

What does HyperX's 300-hour rating mean?

HyperX rates the Cloud Alpha Wireless for up to 300 hours per charge. This is a published maximum, and actual runtime can be shorter.

Can the Cloud Alpha Wireless mix Bluetooth and game audio?

No. The Cloud Alpha Wireless connects through its 2.4GHz USB dongle and has no Bluetooth radio or 3.5mm audio input. If you need a phone call beside PC game audio, the Nova Pro Wireless can mix 2.4GHz and Bluetooth at the same time.

Can I keep using the Nova Pro while its battery charges?

Yes. The Nova Pro Wireless has two removable batteries. Keep one in the headset and charge the spare in the base station; when the active pack runs low, exchange them. The swap avoids connecting a charging cable to the headset, but the time required depends on handling and setup.

Does the Cloud Alpha Wireless fit every ear better?

No headset can promise a fit for every ear. The Cloud Alpha cup has no ANC microphone module inside it, while the Nova Pro has one. HyperX does not publish inner-cup clearance measurements, so check the fit in person or through a return window if the ear cup shape is important.
