Old School RuneScape PvM uses short cursor movements between the inventory, prayers, and game view, along with camera drags. Grip, desk space, and the distance between controls affect which mouse style feels natural to use.
Grip angle: Low-profile and vertical mice position the hand differently. Compare how each shape fits your usual grip and reaches the buttons you use.
Click and movement layout: Check whether the same hand can reach your frequent clicks while moving the cursor where you need it.
A vertical mouse or stationary trackball changes how you move and position the cursor. Try your usual inventory, prayer, and camera inputs before relying on a new layout.
Polling rate and cursor feel in OSRS

Vertical mice such as the Logitech MX Vertical and Logitech Lift list a 57-degree angle and 125Hz polling rate in their specifications. Compare specifications with your own cursor and camera inputs; the number alone does not determine whether the shape suits your setup.
Polling rate is one specification to compare, but it does not tell you how well a mouse fits your OSRS controls. Test cursor placement, item selection, camera movement, and button reach in the client you use.
Why Clicking a Vertical Mouse Feels Strange in OSRS (The "Lateral Push" Problem)
With a flat mouse, your index finger presses down toward the desk pad. How much the mouse shifts depends on the mouse, pad, and click.
A vertical mouse changes the direction of finger pressure. During frequent clicks, check whether the mouse shifts on your pad or your grip changes. Test inventory clicks and dragging before relying on the shape during PvM.
Three RuneLite and mouse setup checks
RuneLite Anti-Drag: Review the plugin’s current settings and choose a delay that suits your clicks. Test dragging items and selecting equipment before relying on the setting.
Camera movement: If middle-click dragging is awkward with your mouse, try a different reachable binding using RuneLite’s Key Remapping plugin. Test the new input in the client before using it during a raid.
Cursor speed: Adjust pointer speed in small steps until cursor movement and item selection feel controllable in your usual game view.
Trackball layouts: finger-operated and thumb-operated
A stationary trackball moves the cursor with a ball rather than sliding the device. It changes which fingers control cursor movement and clicking, so try both styles with ordinary inventory and camera actions before choosing.
Thumb-operated trackballs: The thumb moves the ball while the other fingers operate the buttons. Try this layout with your common inventory and camera inputs before deciding whether the control split suits you.
Finger-operated trackballs: The index and middle fingers move the ball while the thumb operates a separate primary click. Test cursor placement and clicks on the inventory and interface controls you use.
